T7 Tag is derived from the epitope tag of the T7 bacteriophage capsid protein.

T7 Tag Peptide is a protein tag derived from the N-terminal 11 residues of the major T7 capsid protein, gp 10. T7 Tag Peptide can be used in different immunoassays as well as affinity purification.

The T7 tag is an epitope tag consisting of 11 peptides encoded by the lead sequence of the T7 bacteriophage gene10. This gene encodes the T7 major capsid protein, the function of which is unclear. Epitope tags can be used to label and detect proteins, making them suitable for western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the biochemical properties of tagged proteins.

The T7 tag is usually linked to the N- or C-terminus of the target protein, allowing the tagged protein to be analyzed and visualized by immunochemical methods. The T7 tag is widely used as a general epitope tag in many expression vectors, including the pET system based on the T7 RNA polymerase expression system.
